A collection of linocut block prints focusing on flora and fauna. I mixed both indigo blue and yellow relief printing ink to the desired emerald tone (black for the beetle) before using the press to print the designs.
Nature Exploration
Digital storybook styled illustration. Inspired by Ostara (spring equinox) and the celebration of winter coming to an end. The light takes over the dark, and new life and growth take place all around us. I depicted this through the goddess's physical form, feminine energy and fertility, and the surroundings' heavy flora. This piece acts as a tribute to my spiritual interests.
Ostara
Graphic acrylic on cotton canvas (76.2x101.6). This piece is inspired by one of my favourite books, The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir. The book is one of the first feminist writings and still highly influential today. This piece depicts how women have to change and conform to society's ideals in order to succeed within the patriarchy.
The Second Sex
Hand made underbust corset from an original pattern I designed. Both the interior lining and exterior fabric are a white cotton blend. Pliers were used to shape the wire to fit the breast's curve, and grommets were placed to allow lacing. My linocut beetle block was then hand pressed onto the fabric in a pattern to create the final product.
Beetle Bustier
Digital painting referencing a photo by Brian Ziff. I wanted to create an abstract and ephemeral scene, capturing the movement of water and the blurred boundaries between human form and natureโthe idea of having to be in constant motion to survive led to its title, Shark.
Shark
Digital sketch. A tribute to the protests against the extremely prevalent and systemic violence against women. This is my interpretation of the widespread photo taken at Sarah Everards' vigil of police pinning a woman to the street, a woman who was there to mourn another woman killed by an officer.
